Meet at Ruftana Hotel for breakfast and a route briefing. Visit Alalobad before continuing by 4×4 through changing salt and lava landscapes. After lunch near Lake Afrera, reach the Erta Ale base area and begin the guided evening approach when conditions are cooler. Overnight in a supported open-air camp.
Experience the volcanic landscape in the early light, return for breakfast and travel north toward Dallol. Walk through the mineral formations with your guide, then continue to the salt flats and Lake Asale for sunset. Overnight at a prepared desert camp.
Begin the return to Semera with condition-dependent stops that introduce the salt economy and daily life along the route. Arrive at Ruftana Hotel for a shower, meal and the close of the expedition.
