A landscape built from chemistry
Hot fluids move through thick salt deposits and bring dissolved minerals toward the surface. As conditions change, those minerals crystallize into terraces, crusts and intensely colored deposits.
Beautiful does not mean safe
Some pools are extremely hot or acidic, and apparently solid crust can be thin. The safest way to experience Dallol is to stay close to the guide and follow the current walking line.

The formations are fragile. Keeping to approved paths protects both visitors and the mineral structures that make the landscape remarkable.
